FINAL TEST FLIGHT.  CLASS IS HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THAT THE L-164 HAS NOT ONLY MET ALL OUR EXPECTATIONS, BUT IN TAKE OFF DISTANCE AND RATE OF CLIMB, IT HAS SURPASSED OUR ORIGINAL DESIGN ESTIMATES.  WE HAVE A WINNER HERE - A TRUE BUSH PLANE.

Thank you Ken, we could not have done it without you.

Sean and Marlene

Ken's notes:

"The flight was conducted at 2500 lbs.

Altimeter setting 30.27 inHg

Field Elevation 180 ft

OAT 12 degrees C

Pressure Altitude (on ground) -180 feet

Chart in AWM 549 calls for a minimum altitude gain of around 1350 to 1400 feet in 3 minutes for this condition

We gained exactly 2000 feet (after three minutes, altimeter read 2180 feet)

Fuel burns are on the order of 7.5 gph. This will give 527 miles range with 45 minute reserve and 556 miles with 30 minute reserve at G/S of 115 mph. (Lycoming IO 360-L2A fuel injected - 180 hp)

Takeoff run was 180 feet."
